44100Hz — a site about electronic music in Russia, running since 1998: listings, clubs, DJs, labels, a photo archive, a forum. Being rebuilt in 2026; the previous version is still up at 2015.44100.com.

01_problemTwenty-odd years of content on an old platform: accounts, events, artists, photographs. The code had aged; all the data was still needed.
02_howA new version on Laravel 12; data moves over from the old database in parts, each part checked on a handful of records first. Hybrid search: Typesense for words, pgvector for meaning. Live updates on Reverb.
03_whyAccounts are not merged automatically by name and old email — that was rejected: each owner claims their own. Production switches over only after restore and rollback drills.
04_result78,179 accounts, 201,215 photographs in 2,478 galleries, 81.5% of records with an English version. Work in progress; production still runs the old version.
